  Delta Airlines, Atlanta, GA, Feb 12 to Present
[AXIS On-line Airline Reservation System] - the AXIS application represents the latest technology at Delta, and is considered to be one the largest multi-tiered GWT applications ever developed. With over 450 user screens, it uses SOA technology to integrate with multiple legacy back-end systems.  Responsibilities included refactoring and performance tuning of critical UI controls used throughout the system. The refactored components provided enhanced performance, increased reliability, layout consistency, and support of special features not available in the stock GWT component set. Use of these new components eliminated hundreds of known defects in the system. Additional responsibilities included mentoring and training of junior team members in the use of GWT and best practices for Java development, and working with an off-shore team to coordinate code updates. [IPBGWT] - ported an existing application (IPB) to GWT (Google Web Toolkit) and refactored the server side to make it available as an SOA architecture. The conversion process included the transformation of Swing code to GWT and the conversion of the Data Model to its equivalent JAX-WS web service model using Berkeley DBXML.  A database Adapter was developed to enable switching between DBXML database and Oracle database (NetBeans, DbXml, XQuery, WSDL, JAX-WS, GWT, JBoss, Oracle, DOM-SAX) 
[PLV] - designed and developed the Part Life Viewer application used to visualize remaining life for parts and components on a V22 airframe. This design was implemented using GWT and included a high-performance custom table control. The web-services component of the design consisted of a combination of RPC and REST services, implemented as Servlets. The business object model was implemented using an Oracle database and utilized an XML parser for storage and retrieval of display records. [WCM] - designed and developed the Work Center Manager application used to manage and track aircraft maintenance work orders. [IPB] - developed the Illustrated Part Breakdown application (Java Swing Applet) used for searching, navigating, displaying, and ordering parts for various subsystems of the V22 aircraft. The data model was implemented using a custom XML database engine accessed locally from this signed Applet. A Hibernate-Oracle connection was used to generate the XML database content. [Directweb Browser] - architect and principal developer of a Java browser application forming the core component of the DirectWeb family of products. This application provided a turn-key experience for new users of the DirectWeb platform and featured selectable skins, auto configuration and updating of the platform software, e-mail client, chat-client, and controlled browsing experience for first time users of the internet. [Directweb Corporate Website] - led the team responsible for developing the main corporate website. This n-tier architecture provided order processing of the DirectWeb product using JSP-HTML-Javascript forms, and served as the main website for the company.  The back-end consisted of an Oracle database engine using Apache-JServ-Servlet-JDBC architecture with full EDI order processing capabilities for order product from; it also included an MBNA credit application and credit-card processing system.

[Code Scanner] - designed and implemented a scanning tool capable of parsing PLI and Fortran code to produce call tree graphs.  This tool consisted of a server based scanner program written in yacc and lex, and a client based Java program for viewing and plotting output. The client program design included several Java Beans components and a native interface driver for controlling an HPGL plotter. (Windows NT-98, Java 1.0.2, JDBC-Oracle, Visual Cafe)

[Management Tracking Tool] - designed and implemented a status reporting tool for use in a Win3.1, Win95, and WinNT environment.  The key features of this tool included: hierarchical list box control of Project, Procedure, Task, and Work Unit levels, customization of group and individual property assignments, full security and access control, and client-server connectivity from 16 and 32 bit platforms.  The database portion of this product was prototyped using Access and implemented using SQL Server; a number of customized reports were provided using the Crystal report writer tool. [Netport Manager] - designed and implemented a replacement control architecture for a product used to configure Netport devices. [TaskLink] - ported a control application from Windows 3.1 to Windows 95-NT.  As part of this effort, designed a new serial communications module consisting of a CommPort Class, a 32 bit DLL, and a 16-bit DLL. The 32-bit DLL was designed with auto-detection logic for identifying the flavor of operating system, and contained a 32-bit to 16-bit thunking layer for accessing the 16-bit DLL in a Win32s environment. [ATE System Control Software] - designed and developed a control program used to provide upload-download and database storage capabilities for functional tests used on Boeing 747-400 airplanes. The design consisted of BSD 4.2 IPC system level calls to provide a client-server communications link with a Sequent computer, a controller for transferring test sets between the Sequent and HP9000s , and embedded SQL commands for data processing. [Data Translator] - designed and developed a data gateway interface unit used to connect outside vendor equipment to a Meteor Burst Communication System (MBCS) network. This unit was responsible for encapsulating packetized data from vendor equipment in a format acceptable for use in the MBCS system network. It included a maintenance console interface, two synchronous ports for vendor use, and two asynchronous ports for MBCS use. (8051, PLM51)
